Penn State's Wind Energy Club won the First Place in the 2016 Collegiate Wind Competition, a national level wind turbine design competition organized by the Department of Energy, held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Selected teams across the country (U.S.A) had to come up with a thorough business plan, build a test turbine as proof of concept and a large-scale turbine (market turbine) showcasing the end-product.

Our team's business plan revolves around the idea of using portable wind turbines to charge power banks that are ultimately used to charge cell phones, targeted at music festivals. The business addresses the cell-phone-dependence of Generation Y while profiting through renting out the power banks to the festival-goers.

My main role in the project involves leading the market turbine sub-team in designing and building a 1/2-scale prototype of the full turbine.
