3D Printed Rocket

Designing, Printing and Testing
a Small Rocket
November 2015
Shown in the pictures is a rocket that my friend and I designed in SolidWorks. We first built a rough model of the rocket in OpenRocket to optimize the key performance criteria such as apogee and stability (center of pressure & center of gravity) by altering parameters such as the dimensions, weight, and nosecone and fin designs. Once satisfied with the 2D OpenRocket model, we re-designed a 3D version of it in SolidWorks. Finally, we 3D printed the rocket using MakerBot and tested it on a large open field. We also tested the rocket with 2 different motors, C11-0 and D12-0.
